Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include:

following work instructions, procedures and safe work practices

applying safe handling requirements for equipment, products and materials, including the use of PPE

selecting furnishing materials for the project

selecting furnishing components for the project

determining appropriate joining methods for furnishing materials and components

producing drawings of an assembled project and its components

planning the manufacture of a furnishing project, including all necessary calculations

producing components according to created drawing requirements

assembling project, including using tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner

inspecting finished project against quality requirements

tidying/cleaning work area as appropriate

returning tools, equipment and project items to designated storage areas and/or conditions.


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate the required knowledge for this unit must be relevant to and satisfy the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

safe work practices and procedures in a furniture making environment and use of PPE

sources of information on furnishing materials and components

sources of information on furnishing projects

furnishing drawing practices

methods of joining timber and engineered board

need for drawings that others can follow.
